How much did Salman Khan’s Judwaa make at the box office in 1997? Read details…

Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu‘s Judwaa 2 is all set to hit the screens this Friday (September 28). And while everyone is excited to watch the movie, we thought of surprising you with a small box office trivia before the film’s release. As we all know, Judwaa 2 is the sequel to Salman Khan’s 1997 hit film, Judwaa. The movie was all about the drama that happens when two twin brothers reunite after several years. While everyone had lauded the movie and the performances, do you know how much had Salman Khan’s Judwaa collected at the box office in 1997? Was it a blockbuster hit or an average movie? Well we have all your answers…

Judwaa was made on a budget of Rs 6 crore at that time. After a decent first weekend, the film sustained well and raked in Rs 14 crore (Distributors/producers share – Rs 7 crore) at the domestic box office in its lifetime run. Considering the limited screen space back then and the box office trends of 1997, the film’s collections were fantastic. However, if you subtract the exhibitors share (Rs 7 crore) from the total collection, you will realise that the makers made a profit of just Rs 1 crore. Add the overseas collections and still, Judwaa was just a HIT and not a blockbuster hit at the box office. (ALSO READ – Like Salman Khan, is Karisma Kapoor also a part of Judwaa 2? But we have to also understand that money is not everything. Judwaa was quite popular amongst the masses and the film is popular even today. In fact, Judwaa 2 will get a massive push because of the original film’s popularity. We are sure the sequel might just cross the lifetime collection of Judwaa in a day or two. But will Judwaa 2 make Rs 100 crore? Or more? Well, stay tuned to BollywoodLife as we get you all the dope about Varun Dhawan’s movie right here…
