Padmavat controversy: Rajasthan government bans Ranveer Singh – Deepika Padukone’s film

After so much controversy, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone‘s Padmavat (formerly known as Padmavati) is all set to release on January 25, 2018. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed about this, when he tweeted, “#Padmavat to release on 25 Jan 2018. #RepublicDayWeekend.” Everyone, including us, was excited to hear this piece of information. But as soon as this announcement was made, the film ran into controversy again. The Rajasthan government has reportedly banned the release of the film in their state! As CNN-News18 revealed on Twitter, “#BREAKING – Rajasthan government won’t allow the release of #Padmavat in Rajasthan.”

For those of you who don’t know, the whole controversy around Padmavat started when reports started doing rounds that a romantic dream sequence between Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer) and Padmavati (Deepika) will be a part of the movie. This did not go down well with the Rajputs and the Karni Sena, who started protesting against the film. They even threatened the cinema owners against screening the film. To maintain the law and order situation and keeping the public sentiment in mind, the Rajasthan government had decided to ban the film before its initial release (December 01). And even now, after the government and the CBFC have given it a green light, the Rajasthan government has maintained that it will not allow the release of Padmavat in the state on January 25.
